Sherpa says Russia hopes G20 to discuss WTO modernization
MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Moscow hopes that participants of a G20 summit in Buenos Aires, scheduled for November 30–December 1, will discuss modernization of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Russia’s Sherpa Svetlana Lukash told reporters on Thursday.
“We hope that the leaders will discuss exactly this issue at the next summit in Buenos Aires and will figure out how to advance,” Lukash said.
She said that the key entities of the organization are falling behind their role but the organization must remain the leader in global trade regulation.
She also said that Russia plans to discuss digital economy and international trade during the meeting.
“Russia has intent to, first of all, discuss two key topics: development of digital economy and the global trade situation. We certainly have proposals that the president will announce at the summit,” Lukash said.
